The Oscars 2013 took place on Feb, 24. It was announced in a ceremony broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
According to the report, the most exciting thing is that Life of Pi won four awards including Best Director for Ang Lee and it is the most of any movie this year in the evening. Ang Lee got the prize for his game-changing 3D adaptation of the Yann Martel novel Life of Pi.
But Argo has won Best Picture, with Ben Affleck clearly delighted after missing out on a nomination for Best Director. Ben Affeck’s “Argo” won three awards including the best picture at the Oscars. Argo has taken out Best Picture, with the nominees read out by the First Lady Michelle Obama via video link. It’s a bittersweet victory for director and star Ben Affleck who missed out on a nomination for Best Director.
Besides, the other highlight is that Daniel Day-Lewis has made Oscars history and become the first person to win three Oscars in the category. His victory came for playing America’s 16th President in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. Lincoln won three awards, for best editing, best adapted screenplay and best picture.
In addition, there are other highlights for more readers. Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for best actress for her role as a young widow in Silver Linings Playbook. Ben Affleck’s Iran hostage thriller Argo won the prize for best film. Anne Hathaway won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role as tragic factory worker Fantine in movie musical Les Miserables. Christoph Waltz won his second Oscar for best supporting actor in a Quentin Tarantino, this time as a German bounty hunter in the slave revenge story Django Unchained.
With a theme of Music in Film, the awards show was packed with musical moments – including Adele performing the title song from Skyfall, which won Best Original Song.
In my opinion, the Oscars 2013 is an extraordinary. Of course, everyone has their own favorite films which may not win any award. But these movies are really worth to watch.
